Nature of Work
The\r\nGrants Accountant supports grant management efforts by providing technical\r\naccounting, budgeting, and administrative assistance. Responsibilities include\r\nestablishing grant accounts; managing those accounts; analyzing, researching,\r\nand compiling financial data; providing technical assistance and oversight; and\r\nperforming a variety of related administrative tasks.� Incumbents perform complex, technical grants\r\naccounting/financial work involving varying fiscal years and numerous reporting\r\ndeadlines.� Incumbents must continually\r\nmonitor changing program and reporting requirements for a variety of funding\r\nsources and balance the management of numerous grant financial projects and\r\naccounts.� Errors in work products may\r\nmean losing funds that were used outside the parameters of guidelines/contracts\r\nor due to inattention to reporting deadlines and requirements.� This class differs from the Accountant class\r\nbecause of its emphasis on grant compliance with budgetary and reporting\r\nrequirements. Incumbents work in the City’s\r\nGrants Department, Economic Development, and Planning Department, and are\r\nsupervised by a division or department head.\r\n
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a university or\r\ncollege with major course work in accounting and two (2) years of governmental\r\naccounting experience at the level of an accountant.�\r\n\r\n\r\nNOTE:\r\nQualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite\r\nknowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.\r\n\r\n
Kind of Examination

If more than five qualified applications are received, a selection procedure will be�administered to rank applicants on the register. Tied scores will not be broken.
