Project Title: Mechanical Design and Process Understanding for Chemical Mechanical Polishing Systems Project Description: This internship project will focus on developing an understanding of equipment design considerations within chemical mechanical polishing manufacturing processes. The intern will explore process requirements, component positioning, and design concepts related to chemical and rinse delivery systems through structured learning and guided exposure. The project provides opportunities to gain insight into how equipment design influences process consistency and defect control, while building foundational knowledge in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and engineering analysis. Objective of the project: To develop a foundational understanding of mechanical design concepts and their impact on process performance within chemical mechanical polishing systems. Project Scope: * Gain understanding of chemical mechanical polishing equipment platforms and process flow * Explore component positioning and design considerations for chemical and rinse systems * Learn basic mechanical design concepts using tools such as computer-aided design software * Analyse process and defect-related data to understand relationships with equipment setup * Observe how engineering and technician teams evaluate equipment improvement concepts * Document observations and design considerations based on analysis and learning Learning Opportunities: * Exposure to chemical mechanical polishing processes and equipment systems * Understanding of how equipment design impacts process consistency and defect performance * Introduction to mechanical design and modelling tools * Application of data analysis in manufacturing environments * Development of structured problem-solving and documentation skills Deliverables: * Conceptual design proposal for component positioning improvement * Documented observations on process behaviour and equipment interaction * Summary of learning related to design considerations and system performance * Final presentation outlining key insights and findings Impact of Project: * Improved understanding of equipment design considerations in chemical mechanical polishing processes * Enhanced visibility of relationships between design concepts and process performance Skillsets Required: * Basic knowledge of computer-aided design or similar modelling tools * Interest in mechanical design and equipment systems * General problem-solving and analytical skills * Familiarity with Microsoft Excel Course of Interest: Pursuing a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines Duration Period: Minimum 5 months (Full-time Polytechnic internship) About Micron Technology, Inc.
