General Labourer (Delivery Driver) Location: 1351 Bloomington Road, Richmond Hill, Ontario Position Type: Contract Full-Time (April to December) Reporting To: Facilities Manager Start Date: Immediately Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm with alternating Saturdays from 7:00am-3:00pm Compensation: $20.50 per hour   About Miller Waste Systems: Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. As a proudly Canadian, privately owned and operated Waste Company, Miller Waste is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the province of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Manitoba, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations.   Our people are our number one asset and together we are working towards achieving our vision to be the most trusted, most operationally excellent integrated waste provider in North America.  Join us and become a part of the Miller Waste team and be a part of something great, where you can make a difference.   Summary: The General Labourer supports daily yard and processing operations by assisting with material sorting, equipment cleaning, maintaining a safe and organized work environment, and completing local deliveries to residential job sites using a one-ton truck.   Responsibilities: In the position of General Labourer your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Must adhere to Miller Waste Systems safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act. Perform general yard clean-up and housekeeping duties. Sort incoming wood loads as required. Record windrow temperatures accurately and consistently. Wash equipment and assist with maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Complete local pick-ups and deliveries to residential sites using a one-ton truck. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload materials as required. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any maintenance or safety concerns. Receive training in the operation of various pieces of equipment as required. Provide backup support for processing operations when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.   Competencies & Qualifications: Previous experience with heavy equipment is considered an asset. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Previous delivery driving experience is considered an asset. Valid G Class Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract. Comfortable operating a one-ton truck and working around equipment. Team-oriented with demonstrated safe working habits. Ability to work days, afternoons, weekends, and flexible shifts based on operational needs.   Posting closing date: This posting will remain active until it has been filled.   This posting is for an existing vacancy.
