Assistant Director of Health Information Management

Minden Medical Center is hiring a full-time HIM Assistant Director in Minden, LA to help lead Health Information Management operations and keep records accurate, complete, and compliant. This senior-level role supports the Director and helps ensure HIM workflows meet HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission, state regulations, and hospital policies.

Key responsibilities include supporting medical record completion and physician deficiency processes; supervising, coaching, and evaluating HIM staff; assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management; monitoring productivity and adjusting staffing as needed; tracking denials and submitting appeals; completing required statistics and quarterly state reports; and maintaining required credentials and CE hours.

Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in Health Information
- RHIT or RHIA certification/registration

You start by reviewing daily productivity and staffing coverage, then step in to make real-time workflow decisions when volume shifts. Throughout the day you may attend meetings on the Director’s behalf, share monthly safety, compliance, infection, and customer-service updates with the team, and follow up on denial trends and appeal status. You’ll also keep an eye on end-of-month and year-to-date statistics, support students rotating through the department, and stay alert to any HIPAA or regulatory risks—escalating concerns to the Compliance Committee when needed. When coaching is required, you prepare thoughtfully and keep the Director informed before conversations occur.
