Schedule: No Weekends, No Holidays, No On-Call Shifts

Reports To: Chris Ellis RN/OR Director and Jodi Miller RN/DON
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Post-Operative Nurse with previous surgical experience to join our team on a part-time basis. We provide a range of outpatient ambulatory surgical procedures at MHC. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) procedures and provide high-quality care to patients as they recover from surgery. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a flexible schedule with no weekend, holiday, or on-call shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, oxygen levels, and overall health post-surgery.
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.
- Provide patient education and emotional support to both patients and their families.
- Assess patients’ condition and respond to changes in vital signs or surgical complications.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare staff to ensure coordinated care.
- Prepare patients for discharge by providing post-operative instructions and follow-up care information.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current state licensure.
- Previous experience in a surgical or PACU setting required.
- Strong knowledge of PACU procedures and post-operative care protocols.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in handling post-surgical complications and emergency situations.
