The Manager, Human Resources requires an ability to lead, influence, and perform in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Will lead efforts in the areas of employee relations, labor relations, compliance, performance management, training, and communication. Will collaborate effectively with all Company departments, and establish and maintain relationships with employees at all levels.
Responsibilities

- →Investigate and effectively resolve concerns from employees at all levels.
- →Meet with employees and/or managers to gather relevant facts on various matters.
- →Ensure the proper documentation of employee relations matters.
- →Create and track performance improvement plans that appropriately address and resolve employees’ performance deficiencies.
- →Coordinate and conduct employee disciplinary meetings and termination meetings.
- →Communicate to employees and managers the practical application of relevant MLB Network policies and procedures; analyze current policies and recommend any necessary changes.
- →Coach and guide managers and supervisors in proper, effective employee relations practices and communication.
- →Effectively consult with inside and outside counsel(s) to help ensure lawful practices.
Compliance / Policy Management:
- →Review, and revise as necessary, existing policies to help ensure they remain relevant to business needs and are compliant with applicable law(s).
- →Maintain and update as necessary Employee Handbooks to help ensure they remain current.
- →Draft various policies as necessary to ensure clarity and appropriateness.
- →Maintain various employment-related legal requirements, e.g., I-9 forms, employment law postings, etc.
Labor Relations:
- →Maintain knowledge of current national, state, and/or local labor relations laws and regulations.
- →Investigate labor relations matters to achieve prompt, effective resolutions.
- →Educate relevant employees on lawful, effective labor relations and management practices.
- →Coach and guide managers and supervisors to appropriately address labor issues.
- →Arrange / lead training sessions with outside counsel.
- →Effectively consult with internal and outside counsel(s) to help ensure the Company maintains lawful labor practices.
Communication:
- →Compose and deliver clear and effective Company-wide communications on a wide variety of topics affecting employees and the overall business.
- →Assist managers and supervisors to create effective team-wide communications.
Performance Management:
- →Partner with Human Resources team to manage the annual performance management process.
- →Conduct meetings with managers and complete assigned reviews.
- →Coach and guide managers during the annual employee performance review process to help ensure that reviews accurately and completely reflect employees’ strengths and developmental areas.
- →Provide managers and supervisors with effective guidance and coaching on the proper methods to maximize employees’ performance.
Training:
- →Identify employee/departmental skill gaps. Take the lead in identifying targeted training programs that address skills gaps.
- →Take the lead with third-party training vendors to identify and implement required training courses.
- →Serve as liaison to MLB to ensure employees complete League-required training programs.
- →Follow up with employees to help ensure assigned courses are completed.
- →Oversee the administration, creation, and delivery of various training programs.
- →Design, create, and present assigned training sessions.
Additional Responsibilities
- →Assist with other day-to-day Human Resources functions as needed.
It is expected that the Manager, Human Resources will maintain and increase knowledge in all areas of Human Resources as well as the overall business on an ongoing basis; is required to think out of the box, be proactive in identifying issues and creating solutions.
Requirements
~2 min read- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the above HR specializations is required.
- Media industry experience preferred.
- Strong policy creation and interpretation experience.
- Strong knowledge of labor relations and effective labor practices.
- Experience leading and resolving complex, sensitive investigations.
- Ability to make, communicate, and defend tough decisions.
- Experience authoring Company-wide communications on a wide variety of topics.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Possess the high degree of personal integrity required to appropriately deal with confidential and highly sensitive information.
- Ability to effectively interface and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and work well as part of a team.
- Workday HR System experience is ideal.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, analytical ability, and time management skills are required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement policies, process improvements, work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- The ability to effectively take on leadership roles in various functions is required.
- Possess the manual dexterity to effectively deliver required work product.
- Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively deliver required work product.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively deliver required work product.
- Ability to sit or stand for sufficient lengths of time in order to effectively deliver required work product.
- Ability to travel occasionally as required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
