Vendor - Publishing Editor – Consumer Products

 About the Role 

As a Publishing Editor in the Consumer Products Team, you will support the team in creating Minecraft’s officially licensed novels, comics, magazines and more. You will manage editorial reviews and deliver feedback to Mojang’s wide range of publishing partners, working alongside a designer to uphold Mojang’s high expectations for accuracy, quality, and brand adherence. The successful candidate will be thorough, organized, and able to juggle multiple projects at once.
 

Role Expectations:  

• Review content submitted by our publishing partners for approval and deliver timely feedback that follows Mojang’s guidelines. 

• Support publisher partner’s requests for information, assets, and anything else they require to deliver content that meets Mojang’s needs. 

• Manage documentation and scheduling for publishing projects and regularly report status to the wider team. 

Qualifications: 

• Degree in relevant or applicable field (i.e. English, Creative Writing, Communications, etc.) 

• Minimum 4 years previous industry experience as an editor of books and other written content, journalist, or equivalent. 

Skills: 

• Excellent written English, with the ability to edit other people’s work and make creative and sensitive suggestions for improvements. 

• Extensive knowledge of Minecraft, from the complexities of the game itself to the breadth of its community  

• Highly organized with excellent project management skills 

• Attention to detail and proven track record of following through. 

• Skilled communicator, especially as support in challenging discussions and negotiations to get desirable agreements/outcome. 

• Knowledge of MS Suite, Click-Up, Slack and Microsoft services (Teams, SharePoint, etc.) 

Bonus Skills: 

• Direct experience with licensing or consumer products or worked on publishing projects based on video games. 

• Knowledge & experience with various work processes, organizational structures or project management tools such as MyMedia Box
