The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading, planning and controlling all sanitation operations within the feedmill to ensure compliance with feed safety, GMP, HACCP and operational standards. The role provides both operational and administrative oversight of the sanitation function including planning, performance management, inspections, reporting, compliance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop sanitation schedules, programs and work plans.
- Oversee execution of daily cleaning activities.
- Ensure effective dry sanitation practices and controlled wet-cleaning processes.
- Coordinate sanitation activities around production requirements.
- Manage sanitation activities for:
- Production areas
- Processing lines
- Silos
- Conveyors
- Bucket elevators
- Pellet mills
- Mixer areas
- Packaging areas
- Stairways and elevated structures
- Utility areas
- Waste handling zones
- Develop and maintain:
- Master cleaning schedules
- Sanitation procedures
- SSOPs
- Cleaning verification records
- Inspection schedules
- Ensure sanitation program alignment with HACCP requirements.
- Participate in audits and inspections.
- Investigate sanitation deviations and non-conformances.
- Maintain sanitation documentation and records.
- Support feed safety programs and GMP initiatives.
- Supervise sanitation personnel.
- Conduct performance reviews and coaching.
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding.
- Manage attendance and scheduling.
- Participate in disciplinary and corrective action processes where required.
- Identify training needs.
- Promote safe work practices.
- Ensure compliance with PPE requirements.
- Manage working-at-height controls.
- Ensure safe chemical handling.
- Support risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Monitor dust control and housekeeping conditions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Industrial Operations, Occupational Safety, Manufacturing Management or a related field.
- HACCP certification would be an asset, with practical experience in HACCP implementation, GMP compliance and feed safety systems.
- Minimum 3–5 years industrial sanitation experience.
- Previous supervisory experience within manufacturing, feed production or food processing preferred.
