📍London | 💰£ + equity + Incentive Awards tied to your performance + Benefits

As Director of Board & Executive Hiring, you'll lead the team responsible for hiring Monzo's most senior leaders across Vice President, General Manager, Executive Committee and Board appointments. You'll partner directly with the Board, Executive Committee and senior People leaders to build the leadership teams that will take Monzo through its next stage of growth.

You'll personally lead on some of our most business-critical, confidential and high-impact Board, C-suite and Executive searches, while leading a high-performing team delivering exceptional leadership hiring across the business. Together, you'll ensure every senior leadership hire reflects the quality, ambition and pace of Monzo.

This is a highly strategic, high-trust role. You'll spend as much time empowering your team, aligning complex stakeholder groups and shaping long-term leadership plans as you do leading executive searches yourself.

Success in this role requires judgement, exceptional relationship management and the ability to influence at the very highest levels of the organisation.

This isn't a traditional executive recruitment role.

You'll be a trusted adviser to the Board, Executive Committee and Chief People Officer, helping shape the leadership decisions that define Monzo's future. From organisational design and succession planning to executive hiring strategy and leadership capability, you'll influence far more than individual hiring decisions.

It's a rare opportunity to combine executive search, strategic leadership, coaching and organisational influence in one role - shaping not only who joins Monzo, but how the company grows to support our customers and achieve our mission.

  • You'll set the vision, strategy and operating model for Board & Executive Hiring at Monzo, ensuring we continue to raise the bar for how we identify, assess and hire exceptional leaders.
  • You'll establish a culture of excellence across the team, creating clear standards for quality, stakeholder partnership and candidate experience, while continually evolving our approach through market insight, data and innovation.
  • You'll ensure our hiring strategy supports Monzo's long-term growth, enabling the business to proactively build the leadership capability it needs for the future.
  • You'll partner closely with the Chief People Officer, Executive Committee, Board members and senior leaders to understand where Monzo is heading and the leadership capability required to get us there.
  • Rather than reacting to vacancies, you'll proactively shape hiring plans, succession strategies and executive talent pipelines, ensuring we're building the leadership capability Monzo will need for the future.
  • You'll lead and develop a lean team of specialist Executive Recruiters and Sourcers through coaching, mentoring and continuous capability building.
  • You'll create an environment where your team can do their best work, helping them navigate complex senior hiring, strengthen stakeholder partnerships and continually raise the bar for executive search, candidate experience and hiring quality.
  • Our most senior leaders value thoughtful challenge and honest advice.
  • You'll influence hiring decisions using market insight, talent intelligence and a deep understanding of what good leadership means at Monzo.
  • You'll regularly bring together complex stakeholder groups with differing priorities, creating alignment through clear recommendations, strong facilitation and excellent judgement.

Working closely with the Chief People Officer, Talent Director, People Partners, Reward and the wider People Leadership team, you'll contribute to:

  • Executive and Board succession planning
  • Leadership capability and organisational design
  • Executive assessment and calibration
  • Senior leadership hiring strategy

You'll ensure senior leadership hiring is fully connected to Monzo's broader business strategy rather than operating as a standalone recruitment function.

  • You'll continuously evolve how we identify, assess and attract exceptional senior leaders.
  • You'll bring external market insight into hiring decisions, strengthen our executive assessment approach and ensure every candidate has a thoughtful, personal and genuinely Monzo experience.
  • You'll also build and maintain trusted relationships across the executive search ecosystem, leveraging external partners where they add value while continuing to evolve Monzo's market-leading in-house executive hiring capability.
  • Have significant experience leading Executive, C-suite and Board hiring within a high-growth technology company or modern financial services organisation.
  • Have experience hands-on hiring senior functional leaders, including Vice President and General Manager populations.
  • Have built trusted relationships with Executive Committees, Boards and senior People leaders.
  • Are equally comfortable advising a Board Chair as you are directly engaging executive candidates.
  • Have experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing team members
  • Can influence without hierarchy and build alignment across complex stakeholder groups.
  • Have partnered on organisation design, executive succession planning and leadership strategy.
  • Understand executive compensation, including equity and partner effectively with Reward on complex remuneration packages.
  • Bring strong commercial judgement and use market insight to influence leadership hiring decisions.
  • Thrive in environments characterised by pace, ambiguity and constant evolution.
  • Care deeply about candidate experience, inclusion and building exceptional leadership teams.
