We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Data Scientist (NLP and GenAI Specialist) to work as part of NFR Data & Analytics within the Legal and Compliance Division, responsible for designing and optimizing surveillance models, approaches and tools using advanced analytical techniques like supervised and unsupervised machine learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP) and evolving techniques like graph analytics. Surveillance solutions and other tools help identify suspicious and/or illegal behaviors like money laundering, market manipulation, insider trading, unfair sales or trading practices and other financial crimes. The Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Department forms the second line of defense for management of the firm's non-financial risks, which include Financial Crimes, market manipulation or abuse and Operational risk.
In the Legal and Compliance Division (LCD) we provide a wide range of services for our business units. They might help to structure a complex and sensitive cross-border transaction; advise on a new product introduction; develop a training program or defuse an investor dispute. They preserve the firm's invaluable reputation for integrity and protect the firm from sanctions with policies and procedures that meet regulatory requirements around the world. They also strive to maintain cooperative relationships with governmental policy makers and the regulatory and self-regulatory agencies that govern the firm's businesses.

What you will do in the role:
* Development of AI models leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning and related quantitative techniques to improve surveillance and compliance monitoring activities
* Design high-performance systems utilizing cutting-edge NLP/ML techniques including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI architecture, and knowledge graph analytics
* Create GenAI based solutions to enhance efficiency and achieve significant cost savings in labor-intensive manual tasks
* Undertake research efforts to identify novel methods to deliver efficiency and effectiveness across analytical solutions
* Work with stakeholders of the Compliance, Legal, Financial Crimes, and IT departments to champion the adoption of new AI/ML/NLP approaches, techniques and capabilities
What will bring to the role:
* Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Intelligent Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or other highly quantitative field
* 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in building AI/ML/NLP solutions and applied statistical analysis to solve complex business problems
* Knowledge of software design and system principles and excellent skills in either Python (preferred) or Java
* Experience with AI/ML/NLP software packages such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, CrewAI, OpenAI SDK, PyTorch, HuggingFace, etc.
* Experience in adhering to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles include GIT related operations
* Strong problem solving and time management skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
What will help you in the role:
* Familiarity with Financial Markets, with an emphasis on Compliance, Non-Financial Risk, Financial Crimes, and Fraud analytics.
* Experience with benchmark creation and evaluation including LLM-as-a-Judge based techniques
* Knowledge of Vector Stores, Linux, SPARQL, and Graph Databases
