We're seeking someone to join our team as a Model Application Developer in Finance Technology to join a newly forming team in Budapest that is building a modern forecasting platform used across Finance at Morgan Stanley. In this role you will: help design and develop applications and data workflows that power financial forecasting, work with large datasets, build robust model pipelines, and create tools that improve how forecasts are produced, analysed, and maintained, and help introduce AI-enabled capabilities. In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Model Application Developer position at Director level, which is part of the job family responsible for delivering innovative solutions for regulatory and financial reporting, general ledger, P&L calculations, and analytics. The team leverages advanced data platforms, modern engineering practices, and is a pioneer in leveraging GenAI for finance productivity—building innovative solutions for automation and efficiency. What you'll do in the role: * Build and enhance systems that support financial forecasting and analysis. * Develop reliable data pipelines, services, and workflows for model execution. * Translate business needs into practical, scalable technical solutions. * Improve and automate manual processes to increase efficiency and accuracy. * Contribute to AI-driven features that make forecasting more efficient, scalable, intelligent and user-friendly. * Ensure high standards for code quality, testing, performance, and maintainability. * Troubleshoot issues across data, processing, and application layers, and implement long-term fixes. * Work closely with partners across Finance and Technology in an agile, collaborative environment. * Create clear technical documentation to support ongoing development and operational excellence. * Continuously learn new tools and technologies and share knowledge with the team. What you'll bring to the role: * Bachelor’s degree in computer science/ engineering/ related field, or equivalent practical experience. * 6+ years of object-oriented coding experience (preferably Java or Scala). * Strong knowledge of DB’s (relational/ NoSQL) and query languages. * Hands-on experience with AI tools that accelerate code development or with agentic solutions that solve real-world problems. * Experience with building data pipelines, orchestration services, and automation. * Foundational data science knowledge - ability to work with structured data, apply basic statistical concepts, and understand data quality principles. * Strong software engineering, analytical, design and problem-solving skills. * Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies. * Strong written and verbal communication skills (technical and business) to work collaboratively in a global team environment. * Dynamic, flexible, eager, solution-oriented and adaptable to changing priorities. * Prior exposure to the finance or investment banking domain is an advantage. #BPTECH #LI-hybrid #LI-FT1 WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY: At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals.
