Mechanical Design Engineers – Avionics Enclosures (Lunar Vehicle Development)
Join the team building humanity’s return to the Moon. We are seeking highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineers to design, develop, and deliver advanced avionics enclosure hardware for next‑generation lunar vehicles. In this role, you will create flight‑critical mechanical components that enable reliable operation in some of the harshest environments ever engineered.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop avionics enclosure hardware supporting lunar spacecraft systems, including:
• Integrating printed circuit boards and interconnects into complex Lunar avionics products
• Creating high‑fidelity 3D CAD models, assemblies, part drawings, installation drawings, and related documentation using drafting best practices and GTOL
• Producing avionics enclosure designs in close collaboration with structural and thermal analysts to incorporate required features and meet system‑level constraints
• Designing assembly aids, test fixtures, and supporting hardware for build and verification
• Participating in mechanical design reviews and contributing to continuous improvement of design standards
Engineering Deliverables You Will Own
• Generation of part drawings and 3D models created exclusively in Creo, including participation in peer review
• Creation of Creo-based model‑based definition (MBD) assembly drawings when requested
• Delivery of avionics enclosure part and assembly drawings, including test fixtures, assembly tools, and interface control documentation
• Performing and submitting tolerance stack‑ups on avionics enclosure assemblies
• Providing detailed design information required to initiate and support procurement activities
What You Bring
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with 4+ years of related experience, including:
• Strong proficiency with Creo for 3D modeling, drafting, and MBD
• Experience designing mechanical components for electronics, avionics, or highly constrained environments
• Familiarity with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering best practices
• Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with electrical, structural, thermal, and systems engineering teams
• A passion for hands‑on design work and contributing to hardware that will operate beyond Earth
US citizenship or possession of a Green Card due to sensitive US government technology working on.
