POSITION FUNCTION:
The Settlement Worker provides direct client service and program delivery support.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments, information and orientation, provide referrals, and individualized settlement planning.
- Support newcomers with housing, employment, healthcare, mental health, education, and income supports.
- Facilitate life skills development and integration supports to enhance self-sufficiency.
- Assists in identifying clients’ needs and supports clients to independently access community resources
- Maintain accurate OCMS records, case notes, and reporting documentation.
- Providing basic information about the labour market, job search tools, and referrals to available programs
- Assist clients in credential accreditation
- Accurately enter client information and services/activity information into OCMS in a timely manner
- Publicize MOSAIC programs/services to ethno-cultural minority communities and service providers
- Support development of program resources and materials
- Develop an outreach plan/strategy to proactively deliver services to newcomers, and represent MOSAIC in the community to advocate for newcomers’ needs
- Assists in the preparation of reports as needed for the organization and funder of all program activities and services
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- English and Tigrinya speaking
- Post-secondary certificate
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required.

- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with Passionate for helping people
- Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, and government programs.
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills; ability to prioritize.
- Tactful, discreet, diplomatic, patient, flexible and possesses cultural sensitivity and excellent judgement in decision-making.
- Strong digital literacy skills in Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.

COMPENSATION: $28.58 - $31.03 per hour
HOURS:
Full Time Position. The successful candidate must be able to commute to our Highgate office at 315 - 7155 Kingsway Burnaby, British Columbia, V5E 2V1
BENEFITS:
A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
