1. Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks
2. Receives emergency calls from dispatcher or Supervisor and promptly, safely responds to assignments.
3. Ensures the safety of the patient and other pre hospital personnel at all times.
4. Performs medical histories and performs physical exams as indicated on patients in the field.
5. Initiates indicated treatment modalities according to written policies and medical control physician orders.
6. Provides direct patient care from first contact through authorized hand-off at all times.
7. Remains in-service until properly relieved or released by supervision.
8. Accompanies the patient to the ED and monitors and treats the patient during transportation.
9. Transports the patient to the appropriate emergency department and reports orally to the nurse and/or physician.
10. Writes a comprehensive report documenting the situation at the scene, physical exam, orders received, treatments rendered, response to these treatments, and other information deemed pertinent.
11. Maintains ambulance logs and submits detailed incident, accident, occurrence reports and statements when required.
12. Operates the vehicle and equipment in a safe manner at all times. Safeguards all equipment.
13. Maintains ambulances and other emergency vehicles and equipment in efficient working order, Replaces fuel, makes minor repairs, cleans and restocks the equipment and vehicles to maintain NYSDOH and FDNY regulatory standards. Reports any obvious mechanical malfunctions or deficiencies to the supervisor immediately verbally and/or in writing.
14. Wears issued uniform and maintains professional appearance while on duty.
15. Maintains radio contact with FDNY at all times. Remains in assigned CSL when not on assignment.
16. Complies with department vehicle in-service standards, including turn-out and ED turn-around.
17. Follows NYSDOH and FDNY Rules, Regulations and Protocols at all times.
18. Performs heavy and awkward lifting of patients in difficult areas and terrain.
19. Remains Awake, Alert and Acknowledges Radio and CAD assignments promptly.
