Role Summary: 

The QMAP is responsible for providing direct clinical support to clients through the safe and accurate collection of urine specimens for laboratory testing as ordered by authorized providers. This role ensures proper specimen handling, labeling, processing, and timely transport in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements. The qmap will educate clients on specimen collection procedures, maintain accurate and compliant documentation within client medical records, and support continuity of care by ensuring orders are completed promptly.  Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the qmap  will also monitor and report on safety concerns, quality improvement opportunities, and compliance standards related to daily client care and laboratory services. The qmap will also assist during medication passing times. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Collect, label, and process  urine specimens perproviderorders and infection control standards.
  • Ensure accurate specimen handling, documentation, and timely EMR updates.
  • Coordinate lab workflows and communicate with providers and nursing staff to support continuity of care.
  • Support medical detox services through ordered specimen collections and compliant documentation.
  • Educate clients on specimen collection and respond to related questions professionally.
  • Monitor client safety during collections and respond to reactions or emergencies withinscope.
  • Assist with rounds, safety checks, inventory, and maintain a clean, compliant work environment.
  • Assist during med pass periods. 
  • Adhere to facility policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable State and Federal regulations.
  • Attend staff Training and Meetings 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or education working with individuals affected by substance use disorders, chemical dependency, or alcohol abuse. 
  • Exposure to crisis management or de-escalation techniques in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements and patient confidentiality standards. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. 
  • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills withdemonstratedprofessionalism andappropriate boundaries. 
  • Sensitivity to religious, ethnic, and cultural differences, with the ability to provide respectful and inclusive care. 
  • Familiarity with withdrawal monitoring tools such as COWS and CIWA, with the understanding that scoring and clinical decisions are performed by licensed staff.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Valid QMAP Certification
  • ValidDriver’s License
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain.
  • Must successfully complete Background Check, Drug Screen, and TB Test

Physical Requirements:

  • Light lifting, light walking, able to walk up and down stairs, and extended periods of time sitting.
