As Marqeta’s  Settlement Senior Analyst, you will ensure financial integrity and trust across our global payments ecosystem by leading transaction processing controls and funds movement operations for our customers, bank partners, and networks. The Settlement Controls organization operates at the core of our business, guided by the mantra: Ensure all program funds are in the right place, at the right time, for the right purpose. In this role, you will scale the Settlement Controls Team by implementing efficient processes, deploying automated tools, and building controls that ensure transactions are processed accurately and on time. 

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We’d love for you to join us!

  • Perform end-to-end reconciliation and discrepancy management: Execute time-sensitive daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations while analyzing network, bank and internal data to identify root causes of discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to preserve trust in banking and money movement services.
  • Daily Program Funding Compliance: Track and report Customer Program Deposits accurately and timely while maintaining intraday funding balance oversight, escalating issues promptly when needed and monitoring banking activities for irregularities to ensure data integrity across all transaction sources.
  • Drive operational excellence: Create comprehensive process documentation while identifying control gaps, partnering cross-functionally to develop targeted solutions, and supporting critical month-end close activities.
  • Support system evolution: Define business requirements while developing comprehensive test plans, validating new processes and systems, and collaborating with Engineering, Product, Data & Insights teams to resolve bugs and enhance reconciliation capabilities.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on settlement controls: Serve as a go-to resource for the team while providing backup support for ad hoc cross-departmental needs.
  • Process Improvement & Controls: Lead continuous improvement efforts by enhancing reconciliation procedures, implementing robust internal controls for compliance, driving process automation initiatives, and delivering strategic recommendations that optimize cash management and treasury operations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or settlement/reconciliation functions, ideally with strong knowledge in banking, financial services, operations, and cash management. Experience with reconciliation tools and automation platforms is strongly preferred
  • Analytical problem-solver with strong SQL/Python, Excel proficiency (complex formulas, pivot tables), experience leveraging AI for process automation and data analysis, excellent judgment, and the ability to connect business operations to transaction flows and funds movement. Strong project management and leadership capabilities
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and management levels
  • Adaptable and curious about the payments industry, thriving in fast-paced environments while balancing big-picture thinking with hands-on execution and a drive to continuously improve processes
  • Previous Bank and Network transaction reconciliation experience (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX)
  • Experience with funds transfer processes (ACH, wire transfers, SWIFT, RTP/FedNow)
  • Experience in data analysis and automation
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (SOX, PCI DSS, banking regulations)
  • Experience in tech, digital banking, or payment processor environments
