The Assistant Director of Admissions plays a critical role in the Office of Admissions by providing critical supervision to admissions counselors, serving as the lead on special projects, overseeing a key recruitment territory, and providing overall leadership to the broader admissions team in regard to recruitment, technology, and processes.

  • Assists in the planning and coordination of admissions recruitment activities
  • Provides supervision to admissions counselors, including time entry, coaching, and direction of group effort
  • Provides input for admissions strategy and executes plans to improve MSU recruitment programming, outreach, and admissions processes
  • Utilizes demographic information, historic enrollment trends, market forecasts, and prospect data in order to develop and implement recruitment/admissions initiatives
  • Acts as a liaison between the Office of Admissions and internal/external partners to further admissions efforts
  • Contributes to the training and development of professional and student staff in the Office of Admissions.
  • Travels to secondary and post-secondary institutions to provide information and represent MSU
  • Reviews applications for admission and determines eligibility for acceptance to the university
  • Counsels and guides families/students through their educational goals
  • Participates in all necessary MSU Admissions activities and programs
  • Supervises and evaluates the work of support staff

Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional admissions work at a regionally accredited institution, including planning and implementing admissions programs, developing and implementing marketing and recruitment plans and strategies, researching and analyzing admissions data: professional experience in a specialized admissions area; making formal presentations; and working with the public; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Education, Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, or a related Field

Experience supervising student and professional staff preferred
