Postdoctoral Fellow-Fixed Term
Quick Summary
No prior biology experience is required, but a strong interest in learning and performing live mouse imaging (including mouse handling and preparation) is essential.
We are looking for creative, motivated, and passionate scientists to join our growing team. We welcome researchers who fit into one of the following tracks. Please note that you do not need to satisfy every single criterion to apply. A strong willingness to learn is key!
Track 1: Imaging & In Vivo Biology
- Preferred Experience: Hands-on experience with optical microscopy (multiphoton, confocal, or advanced fluorescence) and live mouse handling (including mouse surgery) is highly preferred.
- Complementary Skills: Knowledge of molecular biology techniques (including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry, IHC, or RNA-seq) is a strong plus to complement our lab's expertise.
Track 2: Optics & Instrument Development
- Background: Training in optics, physics, or bioengineering with experience building/aligning optical microscopes.
- Requirement: No prior biology experience is required, but a strong interest in learning and performing live mouse imaging (including mouse handling and preparation) is essential.
All members are expected to contribute to data analysis, manuscript preparation, and the collaborative environment of a newly launched, interdisciplinary research team.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, age, disability or protected veteran status.
Doctorate -Immunology, Immune cell trafficking, Intravital multiphoton microscopy, lymph nodes and spleen
Requirements
~1 min read- PhD degree in Immunology, Immune cell trafficking, Intravital multiphoton microscopy, lymph nodes and spleen or closely related field
- Track 1 Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience with advanced optical microscopy (multiphoton, confocal, or advanced fluorescence) and live mouse handling, including specialized mouse surgery. Familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as Flow Cytometry, IHC, or RNA-seq is highly desirable.
- Track 2 Preferred Skills: Strong training or academic background in optics, physics, or bioengineering, with demonstrated experience in building, aligning, or troubleshooting optical microscopes and instrument development.
- General Attributes: High motivation, a collaborative mindset for interdisciplinary research, and a strong willingness to learn new fields (prior biology experience is not required for the optics track, but an enthusiasm for learning live mouse imaging is essential).

Lifts delivered supply boxes and equipment components from Floor (0") to Waist (~29") lab benches
\Moves custom optical components, animal cages from Waist (~29") to Chest (~54") shelvingCarries day-to-day experimental supplies and mouse cages (up to 15 lbs) individually. Periodically, assists as a team to lift and transfer heavy laser systems (approximately 100 lbs) over a very short distance (within 5 feet) between a utility cart and the optical table.
the shipping/container box to the optical table during equipment setup
Uses a lab utility cart to transport experimental supplies, reagents, and heavy laboratory instruments (up to 100 lbs, such as laser components) across flat, smooth building surfaces from the delivery area to the lab workstation over distances of up to 50 feet.
Occasional use of a step-stool or small A-frame ladder to safely access lightweight tools or optics storage bins from high shelves. Routine use of building stairs while carrying minimal lab materials (up to 10 lbs).
Works with animal tissue, wear a respirator, uses class 3B/4 Laser radiation exposure.
