Material Engineer Intern

The Musco Test Engineering Team has an opening for a Material Engineer Intern at our Oskaloosa, IA office. If your experience aligns with the qualifications outlined below, we look forward to hearing from you! This is a summer 2027 internship and the position is hired through a temp agency.

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Material Science Engineering, or related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong Report compiling and writing skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skill
• Motivated self-starter and collaborative problem solve
• Strong computer skills in standard MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project a plus
• Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus

• →Contribute to overall solder reliability and experimental design concerning projects for LED fixtures and drivers
• →Investigate failed components, microstructures, and data, using a scientific approach to continuously improve product performance
• →Support effective root cause analyses and corrective action for materials issues
• →Gain practical experience generating reports and communicating with inter disciplinary teams
• →Acquire experience in lab safety and procedures utilizing sample preparation techniques and equipment such as a cross sectioning saw and automatic polisher
• →Gain experience working with a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and high-tech microscopes
