Summary:
The Project Coordinator / Procurement Specialist is responsible for reviewing and interpreting construction drawings and specifications (civil, electrical, and mechanical) to support project procurement activities. This role includes sourcing and purchasing materials and services in a cost-effective manner, negotiating pricing, and ensuring timely delivery in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and company policies.
The incumbent works closely with project teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient procurement processes, while consistently delivering a high level of service to both project sites and head office personnel.
Provide purchasing and buying services to NAC projects, as requested by project staff, as well as to head office staff.
Coordinate and collaborate with the estimating and operation teams to clarify required materials, equipment and services.
Read and understand civil, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications.
Issue awards and proactively study scope, identify vendors, issue RFQ’s, follow-up quotations, analyze comparisons and discuss purchasing/buying opportunities with the Project Managers.
Protect pricing arrangements through the issuance of purchasing agreements that extend for the project duration.
Establish, build and maintain vendor relationships through the development and qualification of new subcontractors and suppliers, while maintaining and monitoring existing ones.
Proactively search and identify new opportunities with existing vendors to maximize service for the project.
Maintain & update database for Vendors’ information in support of NAC’s day to day buying processes.
Make decisions that support cost savings, cost avoidance, and customer satisfaction within the project and site requisition timelines.
Actively research and recommend alternate products and solutions that offer improved cost and time effectiveness.
Ensure proper flow of purchasing/buying documentation and information.
Negotiate agreements for products based on estimating takeoff, site input and project specifications, with the aim to achieve cost savings as per desired goal.
Analyze quotations thoroughly to identify and eliminate elements of risk, avoiding problems and to improve the profitability of the project.
Train new Project Coordinators to control and monitor the day to day buying, with the goal to maximize cost savings.
Perform other duties as requested in support of the overall operation of the Department.
Possess a University Degree or College Diploma, preferably in engineering, or equivalent
A Supply Chain Management designation is an asset
Ability to read and understand civil, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications
Comprehend contract documents
