You take pride in a job well done. You notice the details others miss. Now you’re looking for a role where your craftsmanship helps create spaces that truly feel like home.
As a Painter supporting three National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) campuses, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the environments where older adults live, connect, and thrive. This is more than just painting walls — it’s about contributing to communities where care, comfort, and appearance matter every day.
If you’re a skilled painter who values consistency, quality, and purpose in your work, this is an opportunity to bring your expertise to a mission-driven organization that invests in its people and communities.
- You’ll work in a not-for-profit environment where resources are reinvested into residents, team members, and the communities themselves.
- You’ll support multiple well-established communities, giving your work variety and broader impact.
- You’ll be part of a team that values craftsmanship, responsiveness, and creating welcoming spaces for residents and staff.
On any given day, you might prepare and paint resident apartments for new move-ins, refresh common areas, complete touch-ups throughout the community, or collaborate with maintenance teams on larger projects. Your work directly impacts first impressions, resident satisfaction, and overall community pride.
In this role, you’ll manage painting projects across three campuses, ensuring consistency in quality, timely completion of work orders, and attention to detail that enhances each space.
- Perform interior and exterior painting, staining, and finishing work across all three communities
- Perform scheduled painting and wallcovering in apartments and common areas
- Prepare and restore surfaces in vacant units to support move-in readiness
- Complete drywall repairs, patching, sanding, and surface preparation
- Prepare surfaces for painting (cleaning, caulking, priming, minor repairs)
- Maintain common areas with routine painting, touch-ups, and repairs
- Match paint colors and finishes for consistency throughout the community
- Use the work order system to manage and complete assigned tasks
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas with minimal disruption to residents
- Follow OSHA safety standards and proper equipment/material handling
- Identify and report maintenance issues requiring additional support
- Assist with general maintenance tasks as needed
- Provide professional, resident-focused service at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of painting or general maintenance experience preferred
- Experience with interior/exterior painting, drywall repair, and surface preparation
- Ability to use power tools and painting equipment
- Basic understanding of OSHA safety standards
- Proven experience in residential or commercial painting
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and materials
- Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple locations
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between assigned communities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality settings is a plus
- Ability to read and speak English
Your work helps create environments that feel safe, clean, and welcoming for residents and their families. From move-in readiness to ongoing upkeep, your craftsmanship plays a direct role in how people experience each community.
You’ll have the support of NLCS while contributing to three unique campuses, giving you both stability and variety in your day-to-day work.
