Position: Junior Group Leader (Summer Youth Employment)
Program: NATIVE Youth Summer Program
Location: The NATIVE Project, Spokane, WA
Duration: 7 weeks (June 22nd - August 7th)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $17.13 per hour
About the Program:
The NATIVE Youth Summer Program is a vibrant and engaging initiative designed to provide children in grades 1st through 8th with a summer filled with fun activities, learning experiences, and personal growth. As a Junior Group Leader, you will be crucial in making this program successful.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in leading and supervising activities for children in grades 1st - 8th
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to program participants
- Support students in core learning concepts such as math, reading, culture, and STEM
- Facilitate fun and educational activities, including swimming and outdoor games
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a supportive and inclusive environment
- Engage actively with participants to promote their personal and social development
Qualifications:
- Age 16-18
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and reliable
- Enjoy working with children and being a positive role model
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to be active and participate in physical activities, including swimming
- Interest in personal development and leadership skills
- Experience in social services or youth environments
- Demonstrate multicultural competency
- Able to pass a Washington state background check and UA/BA drug/alcohol screening
- Swimming ability and comfort with outdoor activities no less than 50% of the time
- Support a tobacco-free workplace and demonstrate a healthy drug and alcohol-free lifestyle
