The Quality Assurance Supervisor will develop and manage Quality Assurance programs and activities that will ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including GMP and HACCP. The QA Supervisor will integrate quality assurance into all functions and people.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures best practices and policies related to GMPs are integrated with the Quality System, program and policies to incorporate at minimum, all relevant areas of SQF, FSMA and key customer audit criteria.
  • Develops capabilities and understanding across functional teams where needed to execute the quality system;
  • Aligns with leadership team to ensure common understanding and shared accountability.
  • Stays current on regulatory and industry trends to proactively manage risk, develop team and anticipate/address potential issues that may arise.
  • Manages corrective action processes and leads plans to drive resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Monitors, supports and enforces all food safety processes and procedures and maintains the corrective and preventive action program for troubleshooting production concerns and customer/consumer product issues.
  • Leads and/or participates in the implementation of new processes and practices.
  • Manages and investigates Customer/Consumer Complaints and reports out findings.
  • Manages Kosher (Rabbi visits) and Organic Certification Requirements
  • Leads internal and external audit processes and ensures they adequately integrate with our Quality System and that any opportunities are defined, prioritized and resolved.
  • Builds strong culture of Quality and Food Safety across functional teams within the facility.
  • Implements quality assurance programs in compliance with regulatory standards, internal processes and consumer expectations.
  • Manages skills matrix of hourly QFS associates and ensures compliance with documented procedures
  • Conducts verification, validation of Food Safety Pre-requisite programs.
  • Provides oversight to document control & quality food safety training.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Proficiency or ability to quickly become proficient with ERP system
  • Ability to learn reports and techniques used to understand accuracy
  • Ability to Influence/challenge peers in operations/warehouse in executing key tasks accurately
  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders and inventory owners.
  • Good problem solver.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to be certified to operate equipment needed to support warehouse cycle counts (i.e. man lift, forklift, pallet jack).

 

  • Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • Leader with strong inter-personal skills and the ability partner with all organizational levels to drive growth and improved systems, while still maintaining the ability to roll up her/his sleeves to 'act alone' In a young and rapidly growing company.
  • Results-oriented - organized and able to move between issues, projects and 'drumbeat' planning activates to ensure business needs are met in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • SQF and FSMA certifications preferred.
  • Depth of audit experience with regulatory bodies (FDA/USDA), consumer audits (Walmart, Costco) and third-party audits (SQF, AIB);
  • Experience auditing raw material suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel);
  • Strong project management skills.
