Sr Director of Engineering - Global Lending

The Global Lending organization is one of the most strategic and fastest-growing areas at Nubank globally.

This role is a critical leadership position within Lending, with a mandate that combines two complementary dimensions. First, it leads the Lending Foundations domain — including core platforms, internationalization enablers, and data tooling that support the evolution of Lending across markets. Second, it acts as a senior engineering leader across the broader Lending organization, helping raise the technical bar and drive engineering excellence across teams.

As the Senior Director of Engineering for Global Lending, you will be an essential part of the Lending leadership team. You will shape the engineering vision and technical strategy for a domain that is central to Nubank’s scale, resilience, and future expansion. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders across Lending, as well as stakeholders across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, while collaborating with platform and market teams to unlock scalable solutions for the business.

This role demands a strong technical foundation, a hands-on approach to architecture and system design, and the ability to influence at scale. 

As a Senior Director of Engineering in Global Lending, you will wear two major hats. On one side, you will lead an important business and platform domain within Lending Foundations, driving execution and technical direction across platforms, internationalization, and data-related capabilities. On the other, you will act as a functional engineering leader across Lending, ensuring a high bar for engineering excellence, influencing senior engineering leaders, and helping the organization make strong technical decisions at scale.

• →Define and execute the engineering vision and strategy for Lending Foundations, ensuring alignment with product, business, and platform priorities.
• →Lead a critical domain within Lending spanning platforms, internationalization enablers, and data-related tooling that support scalable growth across markets.
• →Act as a functional engineering leader across Lending, driving engineering excellence, technical consistency, and a high performance bar across teams.
• →Influence senior engineering leaders and cross-functional stakeholders on architectural decisions, technical trade-offs, and execution priorities.
• →Ensure operational excellence and strong engineering standards across the organization, fostering a culture of resilience, quality, and continuous improvement.
• →Drive engineering-wide productivity and cross-domain collaboration initiatives, enabling teams to move faster while maintaining alignment and quality.
• →Build a strong engineering culture grounded in autonomy, ownership, and technical excellence, while attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent.
• →Partner closely with Product and other business leaders to shape long-term strategy and translate it into robust technical execution.
• →Bring an entrepreneurial and forward-looking mindset, with strong curiosity around AI and a willingness to explore new tools and ways of working that increase leverage and impact.

• Fluency in English is required, Portuguese and Spanish are nice to have.
• Product-centric mindset, with a focus on driving product innovation and delivery.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in negotiation and conflict resolution.
