The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC)

The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is an umbrella policy and advocacy organization for nearly 200 groups in New York State. We envision a New York state that is stronger because all people are welcome, treated fairly, and given the chance to pursue their dreams. Our mission is to unite immigrants, members, & allies so all New Yorkers can thrive. We represent the collective interests of New York’s diverse immigrant communities and organizations and devise solutions to advance them; advocate for laws, policies, and programs that lead to justice and opportunity for all immigrant groups; and build the power of immigrants and the organizations that serve them to ensure their sustainability, to improve people’s lives, and to strengthen our state.

The Training Manager, Immigration Legal Services owns the strategy, program design, development, and management of NYIC Training Institute legal and law-related training programming for immigration legal service providers, including attorneys and non-attorney legal practitioners such as accredited representatives, paralegals, and legal assistants, through legal training, technical assistance, and communities of practice.

Under the supervision of the Director of Training and Technical Assistance, the Training Manager, Immigration Legal Services, leads legal and law-related training and technical assistance initiatives, The role is accountable for high-quality curriculum and training delivery, trainer coordination, participant experience, accurate program data and reporting, and compliance with applicable Continuing Legal Education requirements. The Training Manager, Immigration Legal services may supervise a Training Associate or Intern. if assigned.

Program Management

• →Collaborate with Manager of Training Operations to the delivery of the NYIC Training Institute’s signature 40-Hour Comprehensive Overview of Immigration Law training, including maintaining and updating curricula, recruiting trainers, and providing outreach and support to attendees.
  
• →Design and implement new and innovative legal and law-related training programs for service providers working with immigrant communities.
• →Lead the development of training curricula in partnership with relevant subject matter experts, and ensure that training materials and structure are interactive, engaging, and relevant to participants.
• →Conduct trainings on selected topics and recruit qualified trainers to train on other subjects.
