Responsibilities
~1 min readThe Director of Network Architecture and Engineering is responsible for defining, standardizing, and governing enterprise network architecture across OBE’s distributed manufacturing environment. This role focuses on architectural leadership and engineering discipline ensuring scalable, secure, and consistent network designs without owning day-to-day operations.
Job responsibilities include:
- →Define and govern enterprise network architecture standards across LAN, WAN, wireless, voice, and plant connectivity environments
- →Lead the transition from fragmented, site-specific network designs to standardized, scalable architectures across multiple locations
- →Establish reference architectures, design patterns, and engineering guidelines to drive consistency and reduce technical variance
- →Partner with Infrastructure Operations teams to ensure designs are implementable, supportable, and aligned to business needs
- →Collaborate with Cybersecurity to translate security requirements into enforceable architectural designs without owning policy or monitoring
- →Work closely with OT and plant stakeholders to ensure network designs support uptime, safety, and production requirements
- →Drive lifecycle planning including hardware/software refresh cycles, EOL remediation, and CAPEX prioritization
- →Define network segmentation strategies across IT and OT environments, ensuring secure and controlled connectivity
- →Provide architectural oversight for major initiatives including network upgrades, plant expansions, and modernization efforts
- →Establish governance processes for design reviews, exception management, and standards compliance
- Proven experience owning enterprise network architecture across multi-site environments (LAN, WAN, wireless, voice)
- Demonstrated success standardizing fragmented network environments and driving adoption of enterprise design standards
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or plant-adjacent environments with an understanding of uptime and operational constraints
- Strong ability to influence without direct operational ownership, enforcing design discipline across distributed teams
- Experience partnering with Cybersecurity and OT teams with clear boundary ownership
- Deep understanding of network segmentation, IT/OT integration, and plant connectivity models
- Experience with lifecycle management, EOL remediation, and CAPEX planning
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
