The electrician will be responsible for the set up, repair, safety and efficiency of all production equipment within a food processing plant. Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures. Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes. Read blueprints and other drawings.

 

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  •  Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance on production and packaging equipment
  •  Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime
  • Service, adjust, and test machines, devices, and moving parts
  • Install, align, dismantle, and relocate stationary industrial machinery such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators
  • Work with automated equipment including PLCs, robotics, motors, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and refrigeration systems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and layout plans
  • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and health & safety requirements
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to maintain efficient operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager 

 

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid 442A Industrial Electrician license in Ontario, Canada
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (food industry preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, automation, and controls
  • Knowledge of motors, conveyors, and packaging equipment
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Strong commitment to safety and food quality standards
  • Ability to work in refrigerated and fast-paced production environments
