Senior Java Software Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Software Engineer to support the design, development, modernization, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise mission-critical applications.

This position will work across the full software development lifecycle and support enterprise solutions operating within AWS, Azure, Cloud One, and DISA environments.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with Java enterprise development, Oracle application frameworks, DevSecOps, cloud technologies, CI/CD automation, application security, and performance optimization. You will collaborate with business analysts, product owners, functional SMEs, testers, system administrators, and fellow software engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

• →Design, develop, modernize, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise Java applications supporting mission-critical operational systems.
• →Translate business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• →Develop and maintain Java-based web applications, web services, APIs, and enterprise integrations.
• →Perform advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and defect resolution across application, middleware, database, and cloud environments.
• →Develop and optimize SQL, PL/SQL, and database objects to improve application functionality and performance.
• →Support application deployments and configuration management within WebLogic, GlassFish, Docker, and cloud-hosted environments.
• →Develop and maintain CI/CD automation pipelines and support DevSecOps initiatives, including automated builds, security scanning, vulnerability remediation, and artifact management.
• →Utilize tools including Jenkins, JFrog Artifactory, Git, SonarQube, Checkmarx, and CAST.
• →Analyze and optimize application performance using tools such as JMeter and AWS CloudWatch.
• →Support cloud migration and application modernization initiatives across AWS and Azure.
• →Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• →Develop and maintain technical documentation and conduct code analysis and peer reviews.
• →Provide technical support for production systems and assist with minimizing service interruptions.

• 12+ years of enterprise Java software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise web applications and web service interfaces.
• 5+ years of SQL and PL/SQL development experience, including database performance optimization.
• 3+ years of experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes.
• 3+ years of experience supporting cloud-hosted applications in AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications deployed within WebLogic, GlassFish, or similar application server environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle ADF, JSF, TopLink, and JasperReports.
• Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture and integration concepts.
• Experience with source control, artifact management, automated deployment, performance analysis, and secure coding practices.
• Experience working within Agile software development environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently support complex technical and production environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• CompTIA Security+ certification or higher.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required Government security clearance.

• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise systems.
• Experience supporting applications within Cloud One environments.
• Experience with Docker containerization.
• Experience developing and maintaining Jenkins automation and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with application security and scanning technologies such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fortify, or similar tools.
• Experience with infrastructure automation technologies, including Ansible and YAML.
• Experience with AWS CloudWatch, EventBridge, IAM, and RDS monitoring.
• Experience supporting highly available and scalable enterprise systems.
