The Hardware Fulfillment Technician is responsible for imaging, testing, assembling, and packaging hardware for customers worldwide. This role requires strong technical hardware expertise—ranging from servers and desktops to IoT devices—and the ability to identify performance issues, streamline processes, and ensure every unit meets OPSWAT’s quality standards. The position supports OPSWAT’s global hardware fulfillment operations by performing QA/QC, resolving software and hardware issues, documenting fulfillment activities, maintaining technical libraries, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure efficient and accurate order execution.

Responsibilities

  • Contributor to the quality management system of the facility and the conformity of the product provided to customers.
  • Image hardware units according to customer requirements and OPSWAT standard operating procedures.
  • Configure operating systems, firmware, and applications across Windows, Linux, and other environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve imaging or deployment errors in coordination with engineering or support teams.
  • Perform QA/QC testing to ensure all hardware meets OPSWAT’s functional, performance, and security standards.
  • Identify bottlenecks, performance issues, or component failures and report findings promptly.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase accuracy, speed, or reliability.
  • Oversee packaging and preparation of hardware for shipment, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and protective materials.
  • Document fulfillment activities thoroughly, including imaging steps, test results, and issue resolutions.
  • Contributes to continuous improvements of processes or initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including Product, Support, and Engineering—to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Resolve hardware and software issues discovered during fulfillment or through customer returns.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal security requirements.
  • Support audits, compliance requirements, and internal reporting related to asset utilization, loss, and cost.

 

Requirements

  • Standing: 1/3–2/3 of the time (hardware imaging, testing, packing).
  • Walking: Up to 1/3 (between imaging stations, storage areas, warehouse zones).
  • Sitting: Up to 1/3 (documentation, troubleshooting, system configuration).
  • Using Hands: 2/3 or more (handling small components, cabling, imaging tools, packaging supplies).
  • Reaching: Frequent (accessing shelves, equipment, and storage).
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Occasional (cabling or accessing lower racks).
  • Lifting:
    • Up to 25 lbs (≈ 11,34 kg) frequently (hardware units, packaging materials).
    • Up to 50 lbs (≈ 22,68 kg) occasionally (servers or bulk shipments).
  • Vision Requirements: Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus for component inspection and screen‑based work.

 

  • Able to read and interpret technical instructions, QA procedures, operating system prompts, and fulfillment documentation, and communicate clearly while accurately documenting work.
  • Proficient with imaging tools, OS configuration utilities, Windows/Linux command line functions, inventory systems, file management, and basic ticketing systems.
  • Skilled in calculating quantities, interpreting system logs, and analyzing performance metrics.
  • Capable of troubleshooting diverse hardware and software issues, evaluating symptoms, applying logical reasoning, and escalating complex problems appropriately.
  • Evaluates imaging failures, diagnoses component issues, reviews performance bottlenecks, and recommends process improvements.

Experience using imaging stations, test equipment, anti‑static tools, barcode scanners, packing tools, and common hand tools used in hardware assembly/inspection.

  • Required PPE: ESD controls, grounding equipment, gloves or safety glasses depending on task.
  • Must follow warehouse safety procedures.
  • Exposure to minor electrical, mechanical, or ergonomic hazards typical of hardware fulfillment environments.

 

  • Climate-Controlled: Work is performed in a climate‑controlled warehouse environment.
  • Environmental Exposure:
    • Regular exposure to electronic equipment, packaging materials, and imaging stations.
    • Low exposure to dust and fumes; PPE provided as required.
  • Noise: Moderate—equipment fans, test stations, and packaging operations.

 

  • Strong understanding of hardware imaging, QA, and QC processes.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
  • Strong understanding of individual hardware components and system-level interactions.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency with inventory management concepts and tracking software.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity hardware is a plus.
  • None required; certifications in hardware, networking, or operating systems are preferred but not mandatory.
