About the Role
~1 min readThe Retail Growth Team is at the forefront of greenfield innovation and expansion of Ordergroove’s omnichannel reach. The team is on a “startup within a startup” mission to open up subscription access to as many products and services as possible, and enable consumers to evaluate and subscribe to them in any channel or setting, whether online or in a retail location.
As the leader of this mission, you will serve as the primary champion for AI-driven innovation, shaping a roadmap that reimagines how consumers and merchants interact with our subscription platform. Your top priority will be to bring the power and convenience of subscriptions into retail with a seamless and scalable rollout experience for the merchants. You will build on top of the best-in-class subscription platform that effortlessly thrives under the mission-critical surges of Black Friday and Cyber Monday traffic.
In this role, you will lead and inspire a high-performing engineering squad, collaborating closely with company leadership to align efforts with our most ambitious objectives. You will also take full ownership of the team's operational health by optimizing DORA metrics to ensure elite delivery speed and technical excellence.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Develop the engineering vision and shape the roadmap for the Retail Growth projects
- Plan and enable the AI-agent readiness of the products
- Advocate for customer and developer experience
- Identify areas of technical investment that can unlock product and customer experience innovation
- Manage a team of 3-5 engineers (potentially growing over time into multiple teams)
- Motivate and grow team’s entrepreneurial mindset
- Foster a servant-leadership culture: unblock, mentor, and empower
- Ensure the team’s work is high-quality, coordinated, and customer-centric
- Iterate on team’s process to align with changing internal and external circumstances
- Provide architectural guidance and effort sizing for team initiatives
- Catalogue and prioritize reduction of technical debt
- Track and improve team’s DORA metrics
- Contribute and review code to stay close to the system and enhance team’s capacity
- Pitch in to troubleshoot issues, propose pragmatic fixes, and help execute them
- Work with Product, Design, Support, Professional Services and Engineering
- Drive multi-team alignment around timelines, expectations, and quality standards
- 4+ years of leading an engineering team of at least 3 people
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with full-stack development
- Full-stack frameworks such as Django, or Rails, or NodeJS
- Front-end frameworks such as React, or Vue, or equivalent
- Multi-year experience with designing, building, and supporting complex systems
- For example projects with complicated problems with peak traffic, latency, availability, SLOs, incident response, resilience, capacity planning, or business-criticality
- Experience with both relational and non-relational databases
- Experience running an agile team process
- Experience supporting customer facing products
- Experience with AI product integrations and AI productivity tools
- Hands-on coding ability
- System design
- Technical vision setting and execution
- Startup mentality of taking an idea from zero to one on a compressed timeline
- Strong communicator comfortable with technical and non-technical audiences
- Great judgment, pragmatism, and ability to make decisions quickly
- Servant leader who mentors, empowers, and learns from others
Nice to Have

- MariaDB/MySQL and MongoDB
- Kubernetes, Docker and Google Cloud Platform experience
