JOB PURPOSE: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for direct patient care and for other administrative duties as designated by the Operations Manager and his/her designee and in accordance with the State Regulations and Scope of Practice. The VP of Operations will provide the overall direction for all patient care activities.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
     - Provides medical services to patients, inclusive of all functions necessary to provide quality medical care.
    -  Serves as an educational preceptor for the clinical staff including:

    o Responds to questions/consultations of the staff.
    o Plans and teaches in-services.
    o Follows medical protocols, handouts and clinical standards.
    o Assists in expanding the competencies of the clinical staff.


    - Practices medicine using sound medical judgment and adhere to all ethical considerations of the practice of medicine;
    know limitations and seek consult when advisable; keep abreast of current technologies and industry standards.
    -  Meets all clinical obligations of the medical practice: Accrediting Agency compliance, CLIA compliance, drug
    prescription compliance, HIPAA, State and Federal regulations, Safety Regulations, etc.
    -  Follows all internal policies and procedures; be accountable for completion of all operational tasks according to
    departmental guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical processing/documentation.
    -  Advises administration of any issues that may impact the practice.
    -  Sees patients in a timely and efficient manner, stays reasonably on time for scheduled appointments in family practice
    throughout the day, unless exceptional circumstances occur.
    -  Documents the proper coding and appropriate charging for all services rendered due to the financial viability of the
    company.
    -  Maintains charts in the patient’s medical record is routinely to be completed on the same day as the patient’s visit.
     Performs the care services listed below (or be willing to learn those services). This is not a comprehensive list of
    services expected to be performed but are examples:
    o Minor surgery (toenail removal, mole and cyst removal, foreign object removal, etc.).
    o Suturing.
    o Fine Needle Aspirations.
    o Casting/Splinting.
    o General Orthopedic Evaluations/Management.
    o Review of x-rays (Radiologist reports usually available).
    o Basic rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries.
    o General internal medicine, family medicine and pediatrics.
    o General Dermatology.
    o General Eye Problems.
    o General EKG interpretations.
    o Emergency management skills.
    o General GYN Expertise.
    -  Demonstrates on-going support and respect for administration in all communications, either privately with staff or in a
    group setting.
    -  Addresses any administrative issues directly and in private with those concerned.
    -  Possesses time management skills to utilize time for OVP related activities and for the assigned tasks during specific
    blocked-out times by administration; routinely see patients in the time allotted, adjusting to daily patient flow issues to
    remain on schedule.
    - Work productivity must demonstrate ability to see a minimum case load of 20 patients per day; effectively work
    patients into their schedules as caseload demands and respond to a variety of unforeseen daily circumstances,
    including emergency care of patients.
    -  Adheres to administrative priorities, without setting conflicting personal ones.
    -  NP’s must be flexible, adapt to change, and serve as a role model for staff through interactions; NP’s should at all
    times think outside the box, providing possible resolutions/solutions to issues/concerns, rather than simply pointing
    out a problem area.

    - Complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations.
    -  Assists in creating a constructive professional atmosphere for the staff by being a positive influence;
    actions/comments should enhance morale and staff relations.
    -  Serves as a resource for administration in various capacities related to a wide range of needs; meet periodically with
    administration at their request, either routinely or on an as needed basis.
    -  Serves as a role model for staff by setting a good example, which includes but is not limited to punctuality, demeanor,
    communication, customer service, workload.
    -  Learns new technologies and commits to providing leadership and training to the staff as new technologies are
    implemented.
    -  Other duties may be assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    Must possess a Medical License through the State in which they practice.
    -  Maintain Basic Life Support Card (CPR).
    -  Maintain Advanced Life Support Card (Optional but Preferred).
    -  Maintain Pediatrics Advanced Life Support Card (Optional but Preferred).
    -  Maintain Board Certification.
    -  Maintain DEA Certification (if applicable).
    -  Maintain Data 2000 Waiver (30 pts first year; 100 patients thereafter).
    -  Maintain licensure/certification to practice medicine per state guidelines.
    -  Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale of appropriate patient care.
    -  Demonstrate the ability to maintain good inter-personal relationships with co-workers and health team members
    -  Communicates through appropriate channels.
    -  Demonstrate ability to calculate drug dosages.
    -  Demonstrate ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
    -  Document continuing education per licensure and certification requirements and clinic protocols.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Physical demands described are representative of those that must be routinely met by and employee to successfully

    -  Ability to lift minimum 25 pounds.
    -  Ability to perform job responsibilities in a facility with multiple levels and without elevator or mechanical transportation.
    -  Operates a computer and keyboard.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    This job operates in an outpatient/inpatient facility environment. This role may work in an OVP Health and/or OVP Health
    Care location.

    -  Involves regular exposure to body fluids in a controlled environment.
    -  May be required to come in early or stay late if the need arises.
