We are seeking a passionate and energetic Design Assistant to partner with the Design Manager to assist in the preparation of trend mood boards for concepts, sourcing fabrics and trims to develop range, ensuring colour palettes are developed in line with trend and trade information.
With your support and high energy, the Design Manager will deliver captivating collections that perfectly align with Forever New's signature beauty and elegance, all whilst ensuring ‘finger on pulse’ of emerging trends.
Get excited to:
- Ensure sound knowledge of local and overseas market trends through various mediums including magazines and online research.
- Ensure ‘finger on pulse’ of emerging trends to ensure Forever New is first to market with new trends.
- Create/visualise outstanding new designs in line with Forever New handwriting and product strategy.
- Demonstrate an awareness of competitors and external trends, identifying missed opportunities and trends.
- Proactive participation in weekly Design meetings, contributing to group discussion by sharing new ideas and observations.
- Assist with presenting trend boards per product category, with direction from monthly story boards, to buyer to ensure that key trends, shapes, colour direction and fabrics are considered.
- Research fabric trends for the season and in consultation with the Designer brief Production team to source fabric and trims.
- In consultation with the Design Manager, advise Buyer on styling, fabric, trim, print and finish.
- Under the guidance of the designer, complete the design brief, post concept sign off, to the standard required, ensuring detailed accuracy, and that QA, and Production are adequately briefed to minimise re-work.
Requirements
~1 min read- A qualification in Fashion Design/Graphic Design is essential
- Computer literacy in Computer literacy in InDesign, Illustrator, CAD and PowerPoint
- Skilled in visualising design concepts (by hand and/or PC/MAC)
- Ability to translate fashion trends into commercial design concepts Creative talent and high attention to detail
- Sound technical knowledge and garment construction skills
- Basic fabric and raw material knowledge
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of all critical path elements and their impact on sales
- Computer literacy in desktop products, including Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word)
- A sound knowledge of local and overseas fashion retail markets
