Position Summary: The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) is hiring part-time Operations Event Staff to support the successful execution of Picklesburgh, named by USA Today as one of 2025 Readers' Choice Best Specialty Food Festival. Duties include greeting and providing guests with information at dedicated info booths, checking IDs and wristbanding guests for alcohol consumption, facilitating water sales, and performing other tasks as assigned onsite. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with the public, working in a fast-paced environment, and contributing to one of the city’s most exciting summer events. As a member of the Special Events team at the PDP, the Operations Event Staff will report to the Event Operations Manager for scheduling purposes and various Event Managers while onsite.
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
● Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere to enhance the visitor's experience ● Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods of time
● Direct and/or assist with PDP activations as needed
● Communicate with coworkers and supervisors to report any issues or questions in real-time
● Onsite problem-solving, conflict resolution, and other duties comparable to the level/type as assigned
● Display flexibility by providing support to various positions as required to maintain operational efficiency
Key Responsibilities:
● Check IDs at designated bar areas to ensure compliance with age requirements ● Greet and provide information to festival attendees regarding event schedules, locations, and general inquiries at Information Booths
● Facilitate water sales
● Assist with tear-down of your staffing location, including packing supplies, breaking down equipment, and ensuring the event site is properly cleared
● Maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with guests, vendors, and fellow staff
Desired Characteristics & Requirements: ● Previous event operations experience is preferred ● Strong attention to detail ● Excellent communication skills ● Strong customer service skills and comfort working with the general public ● Ability to multitask and prioritize is essential ● Ability to think and act in a fast-paced environment ● Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive ● All staff must be RAMP certified or be willing to get certified
Job Conditions ● Must be willing to work outside in varying weather conditions ● Must operate equipment safely and in accordance with training, wear appropriate attire, and report any unsafe work conditions or practices to the supervisor
Dress Code ● Closed-toed shoes are required at all times ● This job takes place almost entirely outdoors. Ability to dress for the weather is required. ● Must wear branded clothing, provided by PDP, when on duty and be responsible for clean and neat appearance
