As the Sustainability Specialist, you will serve as the lead for our environmental data strategy, centralizing the collection and dissemination of insights necessary to shrink our carbon footprint. You will drive operational excellence by identifying and implementing energy efficiency initiatives that reduce costs and minimize environmental impacts. This role is critical in proactively mitigating environmental risks across our global supply chain while maintaining rigorous oversight of global regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Carbon & GHG Management: Lead the measurement and reporting of Corporate Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and overall carbon footprint.
  • Supply Chain Oversight: Review supplier Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) assessments and partner with suppliers to improve environmental metrics and impact.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with global regulations, including EPR, FPR, EUDR, DPP, ESPR, and global Greenwashing regulations.
  • Resource Efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce energy and water use; suggest alternative energy programs and improvements in raw material sourcing (sustainable/recycled).
  • Strategic Reporting: Complete customer sustainability surveys/scorecards and present progress reports to the PEI Sustainability Committee and Management.
  • Program Ownership: Oversee the Conflict Minerals Compliance Program (CMCP) and assist the Legal team with annual Specialized Disclosure (SD) filings.
  • Corporate Engagement: Direct the PEI Green Newsletter and coordinate annual corporate Earth Day events to educate associates across all offices.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in sustainability; experience within the apparel or retail industry is highly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or a sustainability-related field.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Higg Index, LCA, footprint measurement protocols, and data collection/advanced analytics.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Adobe, and Google Suite for data management and reporting.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Passion for the Planet: A genuine and demonstrable passion for environmental stewardship and corporate responsibility.
  • Self-Starter: High level of initiative with strong information-seeking skills and a drive to execute projects independently.
  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage complex data sets and translate them into actionable sustainability goals.
  • Collaborative Communicator: Capable of providing training to associates and suppliers while working cooperatively across diverse internal departments like Design and Sourcing.
  • Agile Learner: Stay ahead of rapidly evolving global environmental laws and industry best practices.
