The Grounds Crew Member is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, appearance, and overall condition of the RV park and campground property. This role plays a key part in creating a welcoming environment for guests and ensuring that all outdoor spaces, common areas, and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and is a dependable team player.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Landscaping & Groundskeeping
• Mow, edge, and trim grass throughout the property on a regular schedule
• Prune shrubs, hedges, and trees to maintain neat, professional appearance
• Maintain flower beds, plant borders, and decorative landscaping areas
• Apply mulch, soil, and fertilizer as directed
• Water plants, trees, and landscaped areas using irrigation systems or hoses
• Manage seasonal plantings, including spring planting and fall cleanup
Cleanliness & Sanitation
• Empty and sanitize trash and recycling receptacles throughout the park daily
• Clean and restock restrooms, shower facilities, and laundry areas
• Remove litter, debris, and pet waste from campsites, walking paths, and common areas
• Power wash sidewalks, pads, facilities exteriors, and common surfaces as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool area, recreation facilities, and picnic areas
Facility & Site Maintenance
• Inspect campsites between guest stays; clean fire pits, picnic tables, and utility hookups
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment, fixtures, or infrastructure to supervisor
• Perform minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, fixing signage, and patching fences
• Assist with seasonal setup and breakdown (holiday decorations, seasonal furniture, etc.)
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on grounds equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles
Guest Experience & Safety
• Greet guests and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
• Promptly address guest concerns related to grounds or facility cleanliness
• Identify and report safety hazards including tripping risks, damaged structures, or pest activity
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Assist with snow removal, salting, and ice management during winter months (if applicable)
Team & Administrative
• Communicate daily task completion and any outstanding issues to the supervisor
• Assist other departments (maintenance, front desk) during peak periods as needed
• Participate in team meetings and safety training sessions
• Maintain accurate logs of completed tasks and supply usage as required
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Ability to operate standard landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with ability to work independently
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Preferred
• 6+ months of experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facilities maintenance
• Experience working in a hospitality, resort, or campground environment
• Basic knowledge of plant care, irrigation systems, and fertilizers
• Ability to operate light utility vehicles (golf carts, small tractors)
• First aid or CPR certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires significant physical activity in an outdoor environment. Candidates must be able to:
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted; heavier loads with assistance
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and humidity
• Operate vibrating equipment for prolonged periods
• Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily outdoors on the campground property. Exposure to varying weather conditions, outdoor elements, cleaning chemicals, and landscaping equipment is expected. The employee will work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, guest-oriented environment.
