Mortgage Loan Accountant

Job Description: Loan AccountantCompany: Premier Mortgage ResourcesDepartment: Accounting & FinanceReports To: Accounting ManagerSalary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annuallyEmployment Type: Full-Time Job Overview: We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Loan Accountant to manage our loan fundings, purchases, and related accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for journalizing daily transactions, ensuring accuracy in loan accounting, and providing critical financial information through thorough analysis and reporting. Duties & Responsibilities: Record and maintain accurate records of loan activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Compile and analyze reports related to loan transactions, assisting in daily and monthly financial reviews and closings. Make entries into the general ledger system and perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts. Collaborate closely with Operations to ensure timely processing of borrower refunds and other pertinent transactions. Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills to develop and maintain spreadsheet reports for management review. Apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure financial statements are prepared accurately. Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with management to implement changes as needed. Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by management. Job Requirements: 2-5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of financial transactions and reporting. Prior experience within the mortgage industry is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and complex formulas. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related discipline. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with accounting software such as Byte or AMB (preferred but not required). Ability to adapt quickly to new software and systems. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
