Role Description: The Junior IT Specialist will provide day-to-day IT support and assist the IT team in maintaining hardware and software systems. This includes providing technical support, maintaining IT equipment, troubleshooting user issues, and assisting with network and security operations.

The ideal candidate should have good IT knowledge, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within an IT environment.

Candidate Responsibilities:

Provide first-line technical support for hardware, software, network, and system-related issues
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and printers
Perform device setup, re-imaging, and deployment of hardware equipment as required in a 24/7 operational environment
Troubleshoot and resolve basic IT incidents and service requests
Monitor IT systems and escalate complex issues to IT staff when necessary
Support software installations, updates, and patch management activities
Maintain accurate records of IT assets, support tickets (JIRA), and system documentation
Participate in routine maintenance of networks, servers, and cloud-based services
Follow company security policies and support cybersecurity best practices
Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient technology support

Requirements

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Good knowledge of Linux operating systems (an advantage)
Good knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and common business applications
Good knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi (an advantage)
Good knowledge of monitoring tools (an advantage)
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team

Nice to have:

Technical support experience
Industry certifications such as:

CompTIA A+
CompTIA Network+
Microsoft Fundamentals certifications

Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
