We are looking for an MRI Tech Aide to join our incredible organization at a newly opening North Vancouver clinic.
Our clinics are open up to seven (7) days a week, and the role may require a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weeknights, and weekends. As this is a fully on-site position with a home base in the North Vancouver clinic. The ideal candidate will be within 45 minutes commuting distance to North Vancouver. Additionally, as needed, the MRI Tech Aide will need to cover shifts at the Vancouver site located at 39 Nelson St.

Responsibilities
~3 min readMR Safety & Compliance
- →Zone Access Control: Maintain strict physical security of MR Zone III, ensuring no unscreened patients, visitors, or unauthorized staff cross into restricted areas without proper escort. Tech Aide is not allowed unsupervised access to MR Zone IV and cannot supervise patients/visitors within Zone III and IV.
- →Ensure Completion of Required Forms: Assist patients in completing the MRI safety screening questionnaire, medical intake and other necessary consent forms.
- →Safety Escalation: Flag all "yes" answers on the screening form and immediately bring them to the attention of the Level 2 MR Personnel (the MRI Technologist). Never independently clear a patient or device for Zone IV entry.
- →Ferromagnetic Preparation: Assist patients with removing all metallic objects, jewelry, and transdermal patches, and have them change into facility-approved, safe clinical attire before entering Zone III.
- →Emergency Response: Understand and execute MR-specific emergency protocols, including initiating a "Code Blue" outside Zone IV, understanding quench protocols, and utilizing MR-conditional fire extinguishers or emergency equipment as directed by the MRI technologist.
Patient Care & Workflow Management
- →Patient Onboarding: Greet patients, verify their identity using two patient identifiers, and explain the MRI procedure to help reduce anxiety and claustrophobia.
- →Mobility Assistance: Assist with patient transfer between wheelchairs and the MRI table using proper ergonomics and MR-safe transfer equipment.
- →Workflow Optimization: Monitor the daily schedule, coordinate with patient liaison, and prep the next patient while the MRI technologist is scanning the current one to minimize scanner downtime.
- →Post-Exam Care: Escort patients out of the MRI department, provide discharge instructions (if applicable), and assist them with their belongings.
Clinical Support & Room Turnaround
- →Room Setup: Between patients, assist the MRI technologist in changing table linens, wiping down the MRI bore, and setting up the appropriate MR coils, positioning pads, and ear protection.
- →Infection Control: Assist MRI technologist with cleaning and disinfecting all patient contact surfaces, headphones, coils, and MR-safe wheelchairs/stretchers according to standard infection control protocols.
Administrative & Clerical Tasks
- →Supply Management: Monitor and restock medical supplies, linens, and screening forms in the patient holding areas and control room.
- →Communication: Monitor clinic Slack channels, communicate delays to patients in the waiting room, and relay critical information between clinical teams.
- →Documentation: Scan completed paper safety screening and consent forms (when applicable) and participate in time-out procedure.
- →CDs/Records Requests: Fulfill requests for patient imaging CDs by preparing and burning CDs, and process records requests in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Experience: At least 2-5 years in customer service, preferably in a healthcare or related field.
- Initiative: A self-starter who takes ownership of their training and development.
- Work Ethic: Punctual, dependable, and committed to excellence in medical and customer care.
- Flexibility: Availability to work varied hours, including weekdays and weekends as needed.
- Efficiency: Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment while addressing patient concerns with sensitivity and care.
- Team Player: Works collaboratively while maintaining a pleasant and professional demeanor with patients and colleagues.
