We’re looking for our next Manager, Internal Communications. Could It Be You?
At Questrade, we believe that a well-informed organization is a stronger one. With 2,000+ employees across a complex, fast-moving financial services business, keeping our people aligned, energized, and proud of where they work is both a strategic priority and a genuine challenge.
This role exists to meet that challenge. As Manager, Internal Communications, you will own the internal communications function end-to-end: developing the strategy, producing the content, managing the calendar, and partnering with leadership to ensure that every message lands with clarity, consistency, and at exactly the right moment.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will work closely with senior leadership to shape how the organization hears, understands, and connects with the business it is part of.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Staff Advocacy & Internal Narrative
● Own the internal comms engine: Develop and execute a company-wide internal communications strategy that turns our staff into an informed, synchronized voice for Questrade’s brand and business direction.
● Lead the internal editorial calendar: Build and manage a communications calendar that sequences messaging strategically – ensuring staff are briefed with insider context days or weeks ahead of public announcements, product launches, and external media moments.
● Produce across all channels: Write and deliver communications for town halls, all-staff announcements, executive briefings, Slack, speeches, scripts, and any internal channel that carries the company’s voice.
● Align internal and external narrative: Work closely with the Director of Communications to synchronize internal messaging with external announcements, product releases, and company milestones, so that employees are never caught off guard by news about their own organization.
2. Executive Partnership & Briefing
● Prepare leadership to communicate: Serve as the trusted communications partner for the Director and senior leadership. Before any major internal moment, you will have prepared the full picture: background, key messages, anticipated questions, and recommended tone.
● Anticipate, don’t just react: You proactively identify communication gaps and brief leadership before they surface as problems. Senior leaders should never feel blindsided on your watch.
● Manage sensitive information with discipline: You understand that great internal communications is as much about timing as it is about content. You hold information, respect sequencing set by the President and Director, and deploy messages at precisely the right moment.
3. Channel Strategy & Content Infrastructure
● Build the playbook: Develop templates, frameworks, and communication tools that bring consistency and quality to messaging across all departments and levels of the organization.
● Evaluate and evolve the channel mix: Continuously assess the effectiveness of internal communication channels and identify new tools or approaches that improve reach, engagement, and two-way dialogue.
● Develop measurement practices: Track and report on the effectiveness of internal communications programs, using data to refine approach and demonstrate impact.
4. Cross-Functional Business Partnering
● Act as the internal comms partner for every department: Work directly with teams across QFG to help them plan and execute communications that serve their objectives while maintaining a consistent “one team” voice.
● Translate strategy into story: Take complex organizational initiatives – transformation programs, policy changes, executive priorities – and distill them into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with different employee audiences.
So are YOU our next Manager, Internal Communications? You are if you…
Write for the room and the moment, knowing that great internal communications is as much about timing as it is about craft. You can hold a message, refine it, and deploy it at exactly the right moment, never letting urgency override judgment.
Earn trust with preparation. Senior leaders never feel underprepared when you’re on their side. You show up with the full picture: background, context, likely questions, and a clear recommendation. You anticipate what’s needed before you’re asked.
Are a strategic thinker who executes. You can guide a communication project from brief to delivery, anticipating how a message will land across different audiences before it goes out. You ask the right questions to de-risk before you act.
Are accountable and you own your work. You follow up, close loops, and raise your hand when something should be better.
Thrive in a high-signal environment (Questrade moves fast). You’re comfortable managing multiple workstreams, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines without dropping quality or composure.
Have 5+ years of progressive experience in a communications role, ideally within a complex, matrixed, or regulated organization. Quality of experience matters more than years.
Have a degree or diploma in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
Are an exceptional writer across formats: executive announcements, town hall scripts, briefing memos, Slack posts, Q&As, FAQs, and internal narratives. You write with clarity, precision, and the right voice for every audience.
Have demonstrated ability to build integrated internal communications plans, content calendars, and channel frameworks from the ground up.
Have proven experience working directly with senior leaders, including preparing briefing materials, managing sensitive information, and advising on communication approach.
Have strong organizational instincts – able to manage competing priorities, multiple stakeholders, and hard deadlines without losing quality or momentum.
Have hands-on experience with internal communications platforms including Slack. Comfortable building and managing internal content communities.
Additional kudos if you…
Have familiarity with financial services or another regulated industry. An understanding of how compliance and legal considerations shape communications is a plus.
Compensation Information:
Base salary range: $120,000 - $140,000
The final compensation package will be commensurate with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and geographic location (Canada). It includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for Full-Time Permanent roles.
