The Team Lead is a hybrid leadership role that combines hands-on technical work with people management responsibilities. This position serves as the bridge between engineering execution and strategic direction, ensuring our platform services (Identity, Metering, and related infrastructure) remain reliable, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate splits their time between technical delivery and architecture, and team leadership, mentoring, and operational management.
Principal Duties and Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain critical platform services including Identity management, Metering systems, and supporting infrastructure
- Lead technical architecture decisions and ensure alignment with company-wide standards
- Conduct code reviews, establish development standards, and drive technical excellence across the team
- Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for production services
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to improve platform capabilities
- Write production code alongside the team, staying hands-on with development
- Manage team performance, including 1:1s, goal setting, and career development planning
- Foster a collaborative team culture and resolve conflicts constructively
- Coordinate workload distribution and ensure realistic delivery timelines
- Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into actionable technical work
- Drive continuous improvement in team processes, tools, and practices
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong background in cloud-native architecture and platform services
- Experience with Identity management systems (OAuth, SAML, OIDC) preferred
- Proven track record of delivering scalable, reliable distributed systems
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (Java, Python, Go, or similar)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with current AI development tools and practices (Agentic, Spec-Driven, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in enterprise SaaS or B2B cloud platforms
- Background in metering, billing, or usage-based systems
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
- Previous experience at an enterprise software company
