Wardrobe Technicians work individually or as part of a team and participate in the operation of Wardrobe equipment for pre-production, rehearsal, and performance of shows and events in line with presenter’s budgeted schedules.

~1 min read- Possess a relevant qualification from a recognised institution or have equivalent experience working within a backstage Wardrobe environment
- Experience in backstage wardrobe techniques and equipment including; steaming, pressing, laundering, spot cleaning, stain removal, repairs and minor alterations of costume elements
- Competent at operating Wardrobe equipment e.g. washing-machines, tumble dryers, hot rooms, drying cabinets, irons, steamers sewing machines (both domestic and industrial) and overlockers
- Strong service ethic and understanding of production and presenter’s needs
- Good understanding of wardrobe maintenance and ability to execute complex repairs and alterations to a satisfactory level
- A good understanding of the differences in cut and construction between opera, ballet and drama costumes
- Working with Children Check
People with experience in backstage theatrical wigs, hair and makeup are also encouraged to apply.

The Production department sits within the Performing Arts pillar and comprises of a team that delivers production services for ACM across Staging, Lighting, Audio, Broadcast, Wardrobe, Stage Management, and Training to enable the safe and efficient delivery of events across all our venues and spaces.
The land on which Sidney Myer Music Bowl and Arts Centre Melbourne sits has long been a place of gathering, storytelling, song, ceremony, celebration, and commemoration for First Nations people.
