Trase Systems is seeking a Staff Software Engineer with strong backend emphasis to help architect, build, and scale the platforms that power our agentic applications. You will design and deliver end‑to‑end features, shape foundational engineering patterns, and elevate the technical bar across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain core backend services and the front-end layers that interact with them.
  • Lead end-to-end system design for new product capabilities, from data models to API design to UI interactions.
  • Build and optimize distributed systems that support high throughput, low latency, and seamless user experiences.
  • Establish engineering standards for full stack development, including API contracts, component composition, and deployment practices.
  • Introduce new technologies, frameworks, and patterns to improve developer velocity and system reliability.
  • Evaluate and refine performance across the stack (database, backend services, front-end rendering, caching strategies).
  • Partner closely with product management and design to translate customer needs into scalable solutions.
  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives, coordinating architectural alignment across backend, platform, and UI groups.
  • Develop internal tools and frameworks that streamline development and improve operational efficiency.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical design guidance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years building production web applications across backend and front-end layers, with deep backend expertise.
  • Strong proficiency with Python, Go, or Typescript, plus experience with modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue, etc.).
  • Proven ownership of distributed systems, API-driven architectures, and cloud-native services.
  • Broad experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, caching systems, and data modeling best practices.
  • Strong understanding of UI architecture principles and front-end performance fundamentals.
  • Ability to influence engineering strategy, guide architectural decisions, and drive technical alignment across teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
