Responsible to support Environmental management for Universal Orlando Resort. This includes but not limited to air emissions, regulated waste, chemical management, water quality standard conformance, permitting and standards to ensure the park maintains compliance with applicable regulation and corporate standards. Provides direct environmental contributions to new and re-commissioning projects. Provides technical support for Operating Divisions on environmental matters.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates property wide environmental risks and prescribes the necessary preventive or corrective measures in coordination with respective management. Investigates environmental incidents to determine root cause and recommended corrective action.
  • Coordinates compliance applicable with Local Environmental regulation/permits as well as corporate policy. Corresponds with regulatory agencies and corporate as needed and accompany regulators during inspections. Remains abreast of ever changing and new regulations through various media sources.
  • Develops and deploys UOR environmental written programs and procedures while maintaining consistency with regulations, corporate policy and global EHS activities.
  • Educates on existing environmental conditions and fosters an environmentally conscious culture.
  • Coordinate with management to develop self-inspection protocols for their specific areas and participate in audits ensure conformance.
  • Take action to ensure the role functions cohesively and in alignment with the whole of the site EHS function. Communicates a single EHS vision and mission with one set of established goals and objectives. Supports and collaborates with all EHS peer leadership related to resources and communications for clarity of message with business partners.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Read and interpret EPA and/or local environmental regulations and consensus standards
  • Strong communication skills inclusive of good English speaking and writing
  • Ability to plan and organize processes and teams of people, maintain schedules, develop and communication summary reports to executive levels of the business.

Support of Environmental Management and development of UOR written policy, programs and procedures, associated regulatory training content, regulatory reports, third party audits, and provide consultation services on behalf of UOR EHS.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Chemical Engineering, or other related field is preferred.
  • 5+ Years: At least 3 years of environmental experience in an industrial setting or related consulting required
  • Experience should include EHS management system implementation, risk assessment, supervision, planning, scheduling;
  • Theme Park specific experience is highly preferred;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager or other equivalent certification preferred
