The Department of Sociology at Princeton University seeks applicants for a Research Specialist II who will work on a mixed methods project at the Eviction Lab. The Research Specialist will work with the Principal Investigator (PI), the Lab Director, the Homelessness Program Lead, and other Lab members to support a new pilot within the project designed to inform the development of technology solutions for Continuums of Care (CoCs).

 

The Research Specialist II will assist with the planning and implementation of all phases of the pilot, including but not limited to: coordinating with CoCs on scheduling and data submissions; providing technical assistance to CoCs participating in the pilot; outreach to potential program participants to further recruitment efforts; and travel to conferences to record emerging knowledge on gaps in homelessness data infrastructure.

 

This position will report to the Lab Director and the Homelessness Program Lead. This position will work with them as well as administrative staff and other Lab researchers to carry out the responsibilities. The position entails travel every 6-12 weeks.

 

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with the Continuum of Care (CoC) program and Homeless Management Information System (HMIS); experience reading and summarizing academic publications and policy documents; experience working directly with consumers or customers; and three or more years of professional experience, with at least one of those spent working with CoCs or in the larger homelessness services ecosystem in the US.

 

This is a one year term position with the possibility of one additional year renewal.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with Continuums of Care (CoCs) on scheduling, data submisions, recruitment, or technical assistance both remotely and in-person
  • Developing knowledge of Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS) functionality through policy review, conference attendance, and interviews with subject matter experts
  • Learning and evaluation of the CoC pilot project and support on the creation of reports and potential academic publications in collaboration with other Eviction Lab team members
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings. 
  • Miscellaneous collaborations with Eviction Lab graduate, postdoctoral, and undergraduate researchers.
  • Responding to queries from other researchers and members of the public

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience building and maintaining positive customer/consumer relationships
  • Experience working directly with Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) databases
  • Experience evaluating program performance
  • Demonstrated successes in collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders from varying disciplinary backgrounds and levels of seniority, including PI and community organizations
  • Performance history of meeting internal and external deadlines
  • Three or more years of academic and/or professional experience, with at least one of those spent working with CoCs or in the larger homelessness services ecosystem in the US

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing problem-solving support to others in any capacity
