We are seeking a senior Okta Engineer to design, configure, and operate Okta-based identity solutions that secure application access and streamline authentication across environments. This role is critical to replacing legacy access patterns, driving migrations, and enabling application teams to adopt modern identity flows.
The right candidate will work hands-on with Okta and Okta Access Gateway (OAG), support OIDC and Apache-based access patterns, and contribute to automation initiatives that improve repeatability and scale.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Design and configure Okta policies, access controls, and token settings for applications and APIs.
- →Integrate applications with Okta for authentication and authorization using established patterns.
- →Support migrations of Okta configurations and applications between environments.
- →Replace OAG dependencies by implementing OIDC and Apache-based access where appropriate.
- →Troubleshoot authentication, authorization, and access issues across integrated applications.
- →Collaborate directly with application and identity teams to gather requirements and implement solutions.
- →Document configuration changes, integration details, and operational runbooks.
- →Support Okta automation and AI initiatives when capacity permits to improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
~1 min read- 5–7 years of experience in identity and access management and Okta engineering.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Okta and Okta Access Gateway (OAG).
- Proven experience working independently at an advanced to senior level with minimal onboarding time for OAG-related tasks.
- Experience configuring Okta policies, access controls, and token mechanics.
- Experience performing Okta application integrations and troubleshooting authentication flows.
- Experience supporting migrations between environments and documenting changes.
- Familiarity with OIDC and Apache as part of access/reverse-proxy solutions.
- Experience with Okta automation or AI-driven Okta workflows.
- Familiarity with Azure.
- Engagement Length: Up to 6 months.
- Time Zone: CT – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (strict overlap with the Canada team)
