We are seeking a Survey Superintendent to support some of the most innovative, complex, and large-scale data center and mission-critical construction projects in the country. This role will be instrumental in delivering RMCI’s first-generation programs as a General Contractor within hyperscale and enterprise data center environments.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Responsible for managing all survey/layout supporting field operations using Trimble total stations, GPS equipment, and related survey technology.
- →Ensure all survey equipment is calibrated, localized, and accurately tied into established project control points and benchmarks.
- →Verify that project control points established by others are accurate, accessible, and suitable for proper equipment calibration and exterior site layout activities.
- →Plan, assign, and review survey/layout work associated with:
- →Underground medium-voltage duct bank routing and layout
- →Excavation boundaries, trench routing, depth verification, and grading elevations
- →Underground utility corridors and site utility installations
- →Generator pads, transformer pads, equipment foundations, and prefabricated skid layouts
- →Exterior building control lines, sitework elevations, and structural foundation layouts
- →Civil infrastructure including pull boxes, vaults, conduit stub-ups, and equipment clearances
- →Perform and verify exterior building layout activities using Trimble total stations, GPS systems, and project control networks.
- →Ensure trench depths, utility elevations, slopes, and underground installations meet project specifications, civil requirements, and electrical code requirements.
- →Coordinate closely with construction managers, civil superintendents, electrical superintendents, foremen, and field engineers to support project execution and schedule demands.
- →Ensure all survey data, layout information, and as-built documentation are accurate, properly recorded, and integrated into project models and documentation systems (BIM, CAD, Trimble Business Center, etc.).
- →Verify accurate as-built capture of underground utilities, duct banks, equipment pads, and civil infrastructure for turnover and future facility use.
- →Perform quality assurance checks on field layouts, utility alignments, elevations, and equipment foundation locations to ensure installation accuracy.
- →Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate calibration/service of Trimble and GPS survey equipment as needed.
- →Ensure all survey equipment is secure, properly maintained, updated with the latest firmware/software, and operating reliably in the field.
- →Enforce safety requirements and best practices for survey and layout operations in active excavation, heavy civil, and construction environments.
- →Provide daily and weekly reporting on survey progress, layout challenges, manpower needs, and equipment/resource requirements.
Requirements

- Must be able to lift survey equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong knowledge of Trimble GPS systems, data collection, and layout processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, civil plans, and BIM models.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or related layout/coordination software a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required.

- Potentially lift up to 50 pounds
- Potentially need to do repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching (or working above shoulder), walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing
- Potentially operate a motor vehicle, crane, tractor, etc.
