Position Department: Men's Soccer
Position Type: Staff Part-Time
Overview:
The Part-Time Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach will assist the Head Coach and full-time staff with the overall operation of the men’s soccer program. This position will support the daily preparation, development, and management of student-athletes while helping promote a positive, competitive, and team-first environment. This is a non-benefit eligible position limited to 950 hours per calendar year and generally no more than 29 hours a week on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, organizing, and conducting training sessions.
- Support individual and team player development.
- Assist with game preparation, scouting, film review, and opponent analysis as needed.
- Help with on-field coaching during training and competition.
- Assist with recruiting efforts, including evaluating prospective student-athletes, communicating with recruits, and supporting campus visits in accordance with NCAA and institutional rules.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the program, including practice setup, equipment organization, travel preparation, and other administrative tasks.
- Help promote team culture, accountability, and academic success among student-athletes.
- Maintain professional communication with student-athletes, staff, department personnel, alumni, and other program supporters.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, university, and department policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent elite-level playing or coaching experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of coaching experience at the collegiate, high-school varsity, or elite club level (e.g., ECNL, GA, or USYS National League), OR 2–4 years of competitive playing experience at the collegiate level.
- Must possess advanced knowledge of technical skill development, modern tactical systems (e.g., formations, attacking/defending principles), and player safety/concussion protocols, backed by a strict commitment to NCAA compliance. Proficiency in soccer video analysis software (such as Veo, Hudl, or Spiideo) for match breakdown and opponent scouting is required, alongside strong talent evaluation skills to navigate regional club networks (e.g., ECNL, GA) for recruiting. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate tactical adjustments, mentor a diverse student-athlete population, and promote academic accountability. Additionally, the role requires the adaptability to manage high-pressure match situations and the flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings and weekends, during the competitive season.
