Primary Responsibility: the Pastor’s primary delegate to administer all catechetical and logistical requirements for joint HA-SH Children’s Faith Formation and Sacramental preparation for weekly program for grades 1-8.
Attendant Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Implement a variety of programs for children in religious education.
Oversee children’s Sacramental preparation: Both in sequence and out of sequence (e.g., a 4th grader preparing for First Communion). Plan First Communion and Confirmation liturgies and Advent/Lent Confessions.
Act as “Principal” on days class is in session: e.g., catechists’ immediate needs, children’s discipline issues.
Identify, coordinate and mentor catechists
Recruit and train volunteers
Order materials such as textbooks and monitor curriculum
Responsible for developing a budget for Religious Education Program
See to VIRTUS compliance of self, catechists, volunteers and yearly kids’ classroom lesson.
Propose/”pitch” expanded Formation opportunities: e.g., Adult Faith Formation, Bible studies, group or parish retreats. Administer those approved by Pastor
Other related duties as (reasonably) assigned.
Qualifications
Must be a practicing Catholic with a love for the faith, who has no problems with upholding Church teaching.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must be highly organized with excellent planning skills.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
- Able to maintain a positive attitude.
- Able to work required evenings and weekends.
This role is Part Time - A minimum of 10 hours and maximum of 18
