We are seeking a highly experienced Deputy Security Manager to support the Security Department. In this key leadership role, you will ensure the protection of company assets, people, and operations by overseeing site security programs, emergency response, investigations, and surveillance systems, while mentoring and guiding a large, diverse security team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Security Manager in daily operations, including task allocation, supervision, and ensuring seamless workflow across Operational, Technical Systems, and Investigation teams.

  • Oversee team activities to maintain strong communication, alignment, and cooperation across all units.

  • Implement strategies and policies that strengthen mine security and support continuous improvement.

  • Maintain and implement emergency response procedures aligned with the mine’s Crisis Management Plan.

  • Coordinate heightened security protocols during gold processing, transport, and high-risk operations.

  • Ensure communication channels, vehicle access, and emergency signals are clearly understood across the site.

  • Oversee 24/7 functionality of surveillance, access control, perimeter protection, and electronic security systems.

  • Lead investigations into incidents, suspicious activities, and policy violations, and escalate findings to management.

  • Ensure clear and consistent discipline for security breaches and enforce compliance with company standards.

  • Monitor team performance using KPIs, SOPs, and audits, ensuring consistent quality and compliance.

  • Review and improve security policies, procedures, and documentation.

  • Manage the site security database, ensuring accurate data and timely reporting of incidents and hazards.

  • Forecast staffing needs and coordinate rosters for 24/7 operations and emergency coverage.

  • Provide coaching, training, and performance reviews for supervisors and team members.

  • Build team capability by ensuring staff receive ongoing training in crisis management, security protocols, and emergency response.

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in security, law enforcement, or a related field (two-year program).

  • First Aid certification.

  • Tertiary qualification and/or proven experience in crisis management and emergency preparedness.

  • Minimum 10 years of mine-site security experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience at a senior or management level, preferably in an industrial or mining environment.

  • Training and experience in crowd and riot control.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to manage a diverse workforce.

  • Excellent written and spoken English; Dutch is an asset.

  • Willingness to work on a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on/ 3 weeks off.

  • Strong experience with emergency response planning and crisis management.

  • Proven experience with surveillance systems, access control systems, perimeter protection, and electronic security equipment.

  • Skilled in investigations, incident reporting, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to develop SOPs, checklists, security protocols, and performance monitoring tools.

  • Competence in resource allocation, budgeting, and management of large security teams.

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, time-management, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing operational environments.
