Industrial Hygiene Technician

We are seeking an Industrial Hygiene Coordinator to provide coordination support for day-to-day industrial hygiene activities in alignment with the Occupational Health & Hygiene (OHH) Program. The role ensures compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations while supporting the achievement of health and safety objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Actively assist in the management, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health & Hygiene (OHH) Program in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

2. Diligently conduct compliance checks aligned with the Rosebel Industrial Hygiene Significant Risk Standard and Corporate IHSS Element 6 – Health & Industrial Hygiene requirements.

3. Proactively coordinate and follow up on corrective actions and recommendations arising from audits, inspections, and technical reviews to ensure timely closure.

4. Systematically support the Respiratory Protection Program by conducting fit testing, training workers on proper PPE use, and ensuring correct selection, issuance, and maintenance of respiratory equipment.

5. Consistently coordinate health fitness and surveillance activities, including medical assessments, exposure-related monitoring, and communicating physician-guided findings and recommendations to workers.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor of Science or college level equivalent with post graduate course and certification in industrial hygiene or Natin/PTC Chemical analyst

• At least 3 years of experience in Health & Safety (preferably with Industrial Hygiene experience

• Strong knowledge of occupational and environmental health & safety laws, regulations, and applicable industry standards

• Strong understanding of industrial chemicals and their safe handling and use in an industrial environment, mathematical skills with the ability to perform basic calculations.

• Ability to communicate effectively and build strong interpersonal relationships across teams and departments.

• Willingness to work in Brokopondo a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break

• Good communication and interpersonal skills in Dutch and English.

• If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
